Whale tangled in steel body noticed off California coast



A grey whale with what seems to be a meals lure caught in its head has been seen on the southern California coast, and a authorities company has requested for assist in monitoring it.

The tangled whale was found swimming northward close to Dana Level, California on Saturday, April 1, in line with the Related Press. Individuals on a whale watching tour noticed her about two miles off shore.

The Nationwide Maritime Fisheries Service has requested boaters to report any animal sightings.

By 2016, there were 71 reports of whales entangled in lines and other fishing artifacts off the coasts of Washington, Oregon and California, as well as in neighboring countries with US fishing gear. It is the highest annual total for that area since the Fisheries Division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration began maintaining records in 1982.
